Player of the Week: November 15, 2021

Each week of the spring and fall seasons, one player who was originally reported as a recruit by AVSR Global is named Player of the Week for an exceptional performance.

Fall Week #9: Aleksandra Koleva

Tyler Junior College.

NJCAA Division I.

Region XIV (Texas).

Freshman. 5'9" Setter.

First reported by AVSR Global in 2020.

Latest Action:

• Koleva is the nation’s top freshman setter among NJCAA teams, and she has led Tyler to this week’s national championship tournament.
• Koleva ranks fourth in the nation in total assists and assists per set.
• Tyler is seeded 11th in the 16-team championship tourney. TJC has reached the national finals in five of the past six years.
• In the Region XIV title match Koleva posted 56 assists as Tyler beat Panola 3-1. Tyler is 26-11 and has won eight of its past nine matches.
• At age 16 Koleva began competing in Bulgaria’s top women’s league. She also played for Bulgaria’s youth and junior national teams.
• Koleva’s father, Radko Kolev, had a 15-year professional career as a middle blocker and opposite in Europe, Asia and North Africa.
