Player of the Week: September 3, 2018

Each week of the spring and fall seasons, one player who was originally reported as a recruit by AVSR Global is named Player of the Week for an exceptional performance.

Fall Week #2: Silvia Pertens

University of Houston

NCAA Division I.

Reported to coaches by AVSR Global in 2016.

Sophomore.  5'11" Opposite/Outside Hitter.

Last Week’s Action:

• Pertens lifted Houston to five wins in five days, and the Cougars ran their overall season record to 8-0.
• It’s Houston’s best start in 31 years. The 1987 team also opened at 8-0.
• The Cougars’ five victories were over Louisiana, Nicholls, Sam Houston State, Mississippi Valley State and Prairie View A&M.
• Pertens was Houston’s top freshman hitter last year. This year she’s swinging at .208 efficiency and averaging 2.13 kills per set.
• Before arriving in Texas, Pertens competed for Estonia’s national teams as both an indoor and beach player.
