Each week of the spring and fall seasons, one player who was originally reported as a recruit by AVSR Global is named Player of the Week for an exceptional performance.

Fall Week #2: Liisel Nelis

Sacred Heart University

Sophomore.  5'10" Outside Hitter.

2016:  Three-time NEC Rookie of the Week.

Last Week’s Action:

• Nelis earned a spot on the Harvard Invitational all-tournament team.
• She led Sacred Heart in three matches, scoring 46 kills and 27 digs, as SHU defeated Harvard and fell to Stony Brook and American.
• Nelis is SHU’s kills leader this year. Last fall she played in all 101 sets, and the Pioneers won the NEC regular-season championship.
• Nelis competed for Estonia’s junior national beach and indoor teams.

“Liisel is easy to like as a lively, instinctive athlete and versatile recruit. She does everything well but hasn’t specialized at any position. … Can play LH or RH in mid-Division I or libero for a top-60 team.”

Latest Action:  Gelzinyte powered the Bison to three wins and was named to the NDSU Classic all-tournament team. She scored 35 kills and 31 digs in victories over Northern Colorado, San Francisco and Florida A&M.
